Mission

We are a pioneering material science company addressing today's significant manufacturing challenges with unparalleled sustainability. We craft high-impact products extending beyond traditional industrial minerals through tailored chemistry and processing solutions. .

Our primary mining operations are located 80 km west of Kangerlussuaq on the west coast of Greenland. We export our primary mineral, Anorthosite, from our Greenland facility to clients across three continents, focusing on infrastructure development in North America and Europe, and exploring new materials and technologies to support our strategic goals.

Initiated in 2013, our journey began with exploration. Construction at the Qaqortorsuaq site in Greenland commenced in 2017, leading to our first shipment in 2019. As the sole mining operation in Greenland, we take pride in our operations and cherish our deep connections with local communities.

Our strategically located mineral deposits and processing capabilities underpin transatlantic resource security.

Our strategic footprint spans key regions critical to the global supply of strategic and critical minerals. Our operations in Greenland – home to some of Earth’s most valuable minerals – tap into vast resources, including anorthosite and other high-demand materials, while our advanced processing plant in the U.S., Mexico and Greenland provides localized solutions for refining and delivering tailored mineral products.

With additional exploration permits in Greenland and plans for expansion in North America and Europe, we are building a flexible, vertically integrated supply chain that reduces geopolitical risk and ensures resource security.

Greenland

Our Qaqortorsuaq operation, located 80 km west of Kangerlussuaq on Greenland’s west coast, exports high-purity anorthosite to customers in North America and Europe. Since our journey began in 2013, we have been committed to responsibly extracting this valuable resource while forging strong ties with local communities.

Lumina’s holds the distinction of operating Greenland’s only active and fully-permitted mine, having demonstrated our ability to navigate the region’s complex landscape.

Construction at Qaqortorsuaq started in 2017, and by 2019, we made our first shipment of the material, which is used in industrial applications such as fiberglass, paints, and polymer additives. Our site is served by its own deep-sea port, which enables the efficient transportation as close to our customers as possible and minimizes over-the-road freight.

Under previous management, the mine had only exported 30,000 tons by 2020. However, with the backing of our investors and under new leadership, we transformed the site into a high-performing operation. We have been able to export anorthosite in coarser form, increasing production by 500% and boosting shipping by 12-fold in just four years. By 2025, production is set to reach 210,000 tons, all produced in Greenland and sold abroad.

With a massive four billion-ton deposit, the Qaqortorsuaq site is poised to play a critical role in the global supply of high-purity anorthosite. With unrivalled expertise in Arctic mining, the operation provides a market-leading foundation for expanding our extraction activities in Greenland and beyond.

USA

Our U.S. processing facility and breakthrough R&D center in Jeffersonville, Indiana, further strengthen our capabilities, enabling us to pioneer innovative processing technologies that meet the evolving needs of industries reliant on strategic and critical minerals.

We have a pilot plant in operation and a full-scale plant in construction which is expected to be completed later in 2025.

Mexico

In Mexico, we undertake processing of anorthosite from our Greenland mine which is used for e-glass manufacturing for local customers.
