  • Do you want to help run a mine in Greenland?

    Lumina Sustainable Materials A/S is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Manager for our feldspar mine in Qaqortorsuaq.

    As Site Manager, you will be a key figure in the daily operations and management of the mine. You will hold overall responsibility for coordination, communication, safety, planning, and personnel – acting as the link between senior management and the entire on-site team.

    The position follows a 4-weeks-on / 2-weeks-off rotation. Transport to the airport closest to your residence will be covered by Lumina.

    The mine site includes accommodation for 40 people, a kitchen and dining hall, a large workshop, a processing plant with ship loading facilities, a pontoon quay, 11.5 km of roads, an open pit with crushing plant, and an expected 2026 production of 400,000 tonnes. The operation runs 24/7, year-round.

    Your responsibilities:

    Management and operations

    • Daily management and coordination of all activities at the mine.

    • Communication between on-site employees and senior management.

    • Reporting to the DOO (Director of Operations) and MD (Managing Director).

    • Planning work tasks and staff rotation in cooperation with the DOO.

    • Interviewing, hiring, and dismissing employees.

    • Daily registration of timesheets, production figures, etc.

    Efficiency and development

    • Identify opportunities for improvement in operations, costs, and processes.

    • Optimise equipment use and reduce downtime in cooperation with the DOO.

    • Develop and implement an OEE system in cooperation with the DOO.

    Safety and environment

    • Serve as daily head of the on-site safety organisation.

    • Act as highest authority at the mine in emergencies – liaising with authorities.

    • Roll out health and safety programmes and conduct training.

    • Ensure compliance with applicable Greenlandic safety standards.

    • Implement and follow up on environmental monitoring.

    People and organisation

    • Develop and coach supervisors and employees.

    • Contribute to HR strategies in recruitment, onboarding, performance, and retention.

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, values, and code of conduct.

    Your profile:

    • Documented experience in a similar position – preferably from mining, industry, or offshore operations.

    • Educated as a mining or civil engineer, marine engineer, or with another technical/trade background.

    • Used to working towards production targets and thriving in a dynamic environment where the pace can be high without compromising safety, quality, or teamwork.

    • Experience in personnel management, safety, and operations.

    • Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and lead within a dynamic team.

    • Fluent in English – Greenlandic or a Scandinavian language is an advantage.

    • Outgoing, flexible, and a good team player.

    • Enjoys working in a busy environment.

    • Category B driving licence (C licence an advantage).

    • Medical chest B and firefighter training are advantageous – otherwise relevant courses will be provided.

    • Microsoft Excel and Word – user or superuser level.
